Acupuncture is a form of holistic medicine that originated in China over 2,000 years ago. It involves the gentle insertion of very fine, sterile needles into specific points on the body to stimulate your body’s natural healing response.
From a traditional perspective, acupuncture restores balance and flow of Qi (pronounced “chee”) – the body’s vital energy – along pathways called meridians. When Qi becomes blocked or imbalanced, pain and illness can occur. By unblocking and harmonizing this energy, acupuncture promotes health and vitality.
From a modern medical standpoint, acupuncture influences the nervous system, improves circulation, reduces inflammation, and triggers the release of endorphins – the body’s natural painkillers.
The result is a safe, natural therapy that supports healing, reduces pain and stress, and enhances overall well-being. Acupuncture is also evidence-based and endorsed by the World Health Organization (WHO) for more than 40 health conditions, including chronic pain, migraines, digestive disorders, depression, anxiety, menstrual issues, and stress.
Yes. When performed by a licensed acupuncturist, acupuncture is extremely safe. All needles are single-use, sterile, and disposable.
It’s important that you receive treatment from a Florida-licensed acupuncturist who follows the Clean Needle Technique guidelines set by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM).
I am certified by NCCAOM and maintain all required standards set by both the NCCAOM and the State of Florida.
Acupuncture can safely and effectively treat a wide range of physical, emotional, and internal conditions, including:
Chronic pain (neck, back, shoulders, knees, etc.)
Headaches and migraines
Digestive issues (IBS, nausea, bloating, acid reflux)
Women’s health issues (PMS, menstrual pain, menopause symptoms, infertility)
Stress, anxiety, depression, PTSD, and insomnia
Allergies, sinus issues, and asthma
Addictions and smoking cessation
Fatigue, immune system support, and overall wellness
Because acupuncture stimulates the body’s natural healing mechanisms, it can complement other medical treatments as part of an integrative care plan.
Most patients are surprised by how comfortable acupuncture feels. The needles are extremely thin – about the width of a human hair – and most people describe the sensation as a light pressure, tingling, or warmth. Many find treatments deeply relaxing and even fall asleep during their sessions.
Cupping is a therapy that improves circulation and releases muscle tension using gentle suction. Cups are placed on the skin to lift and separate layers of tissue, drawing blood flow to the area and promoting healing.
Temporary circular marks may appear afterward – these are not bruises but signs of increased circulation and the body’s healing response.
Acupuncture Injection Therapy combines traditional acupuncture with modern biomedicine. In this treatment, sterile, FDA-approved natural substances are injected into acupuncture points to enhance healing.
These injections may include vitamins, minerals, or homeopathic solutions, and are especially helpful for muscle spasms, inflammation, and chronic pain.
The Avazzia™ device delivers gentle micro-current electrical impulses to the body to stimulate the nervous system’s C-fibers. This encourages the body to produce neuropeptides that help reduce pain and promote tissue repair.
Unlike traditional TENS units, the Avazzia™ device interacts with the body’s natural electrical signals, supporting true healing rather than masking pain.
Your first session will begin with a comprehensive health intake and conversation about your main concerns and health goals. You’ll also receive a tongue and pulse evaluation, which helps identify internal imbalances.
Once the assessment is complete, your acupuncturist will gently insert sterile needles at selected points. You’ll rest comfortably for about 25–35 minutes as your body begins to rebalance. Additional therapies such as cupping, massage, or injection therapy may be incorporated depending on your needs.
Each follow-up session builds upon the previous one, so it’s important to schedule your next appointment before leaving.
Eat a light meal or snack about one hour before your appointment. Avoid coming on an empty stomach.
Wear loose, comfortable clothing that allows access to your lower legs and arms.
Avoid caffeine or alcohol immediately before your treatment.
Try to arrive a few minutes early to relax and center yourself.
Plan about 60–70 minutes for your first session and around 45–50 minutes for follow-ups.
The number of sessions varies depending on your condition, overall health, and how long the issue has been present.
Acute conditions: May improve in 1–3 sessions.
Chronic conditions: Often require 6–10 sessions or ongoing maintenance.
Your acupuncturist will discuss a personalized treatment plan with you after your initial visit.
You may feel relaxed, energized, or even a little sleepy. Mild soreness or light bruising at needle sites can occur but is temporary.
Drink plenty of water after your treatment and avoid strenuous exercise or alcohol for the rest of the day to allow your body to fully integrate the benefits.

Acupuncture offers broader benefits, including emotional balance, improved circulation, and enhanced wellness.
If you’re struggling with pain, stress, fatigue, or a chronic condition that hasn’t improved through other methods, acupuncture is worth exploring. It’s safe, natural, and often effective even when other treatments have failed.
